Occupational Therapist Opportunity K-12 School Setting Durham Area, NC
A full-time, contract Occupational Therapist position is available to provide essential support to students within a K-12 school environment located in the Durham area of North Carolina (Research Triangle). This role is primarily focused on delivering occupational therapy services to primarily elementary-aged students as part of an FMLA coverage assignment. The contract is expected to last through at least December with potential extension into January, in alignment with the school calendar ending June 10, 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct occupational therapy services to students identified by the school
- Collaborate with educational staff and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and related therapy services
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to support student needs
- Comply with school policies and state regulations regarding therapy and student safety
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Occupational Therapist licensure in North Carolina is required
- Experience providing occupational therapy services in a school (K-12) setting preferred
- Ability to work full-time, 37.5 hours per week; part-time candidates will not be considered
- Candidates must be prepared to apply for the NC Division of Early Education (NCDEE) background check; prior completion is preferred but not required at start of contract
- COTA candidates will not be considered for this position
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with educators, families, and students
